One of my favorite lines in the movies goes something like this, "It's like they are borrowing OUR will. The will of another human being." It's in reference to assisting people who have been in a catatonic state, utterly helpless for decades, to awaken. Sometimes all it took was a mere touch or a phrase to let them realize a hand was there to help, and let them strive to reach the light. Human contact is irreplaceable.
I personally don't believe that you can have too many friends, too much human contact and good will. And thanks to social media, Facebook specifically, I have regained contact with a boatload of friends that drifted away over the years, as life intervened to take us down different paths. High school friends from Newfoundland, College friends; it's wonderful really! It's like we just took up where we left off! I have many friends that I have met through my latest journey to health through my weight loss surgery. These are new friends, but they are dear to me too. Some of these people I have know for years now through facebook, but never met in person, but when we do meet, as I did with many of them in Vegas this past May, it was as if we had known each other in person, forever. Weird, but awesome! We got along so well. This social media phenomenon, which is now the norm for millions of people, has increased my circle hundred fold, and that makes me happy.
Well, my friends, I feel your presence. And let me tell you, I am borrowing your will this week. My own will is at a low ebb, and due to take even more of a beating as the week progresses, but I have you all to watch my back, and send me good wishes and vibes. Some may scoff, but when Ruby was going through her medical issues, she had thousands of people praying for her, lighting candles, sending good thought, at that time through standard media, print, radio, television. If you think that I don't believe that helped her, you would be mistaken,. I KNOW it helped as sure as I know the moon will rise tonight. So this week it is I who needs bolstering, a spiritual shot in the arm so to speak. And on Thursday morning, I know my friends will pause and think of me and send me, and my Father, a blessing, in whatever form it takes for them. I don't care, I am an equal opportunity wish receiver, whether that be prayer, or meditation, or releasing a wish to the sky. I will take it all. And, I will be comforted, and grateful, regardless of the outcome. Thank you in advance. Your friend, Patrina McBride
